Working draft
This page is a working draft and should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before public launch.
1. Our Commitment
Finding Horizons is committed to making the app as accessible as possible for all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards as the product matures.
Accessibility is a continuous process. We acknowledge that the current version of the app may not yet meet all accessibility standards, and we are actively working to improve.
2. Current Accessibility Features
- Semantic HTML structure where feasible
- Sufficient colour contrast in our dark (Nebula) theme — light (Horizon) theme is being refined
- Touch targets sized for usability (minimum 44×44px recommended by Apple and Google)
- Text legibility: minimum 11px for labels, scalable text where supported
- Screen reader labels (aria-label, aria-hidden) applied to icon-only buttons
- Keyboard navigation for web version (Tab, Enter, Escape)
3. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following accessibility gaps that we are working to address:
- Light mode (Horizon theme) contrast is still being refined
- Map interactions may not be fully accessible via screen reader
- Some complex interactive components (trip timeline, itinerary builder) may not yet be fully keyboard-navigable
- Focus management in modals and drawers is being improved
4. Platform Accessibility
Finding Horizons relies on native platform accessibility features where possible:
- iOS: VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, Increase Contrast
- Android: TalkBack, Font Size settings, High Contrast Text
- Web: Respects system-level font size preferences and reduced motion settings
5. Contact Us
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or have a suggestion, please contact us at support@findinghorizons.ca with "Accessibility" in the subject line.
We take accessibility feedback seriously and will respond within 10 business days. We will work with you to provide an accessible alternative where possible while we address the underlying issue.
6. No Legal Claim of Compliance
This statement represents our intent and current effort — it is not a legal claim that Finding Horizons currently meets all applicable accessibility standards. Accessibility audits and formal compliance testing are planned before public launch.
