Community Guidelines
Standards for all Finding Horizons users
Last updated May 2026
Working draft
This page is a working draft and should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before public launch.
1. Respect & Inclusion
Finding Horizons is a community of travellers. Treat every user with respect regardless of their background, nationality, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or travel style.
Harassment, hate speech, bullying, and targeted attacks are not tolerated in any form. This applies to public posts, experience reviews, collection descriptions, trip notes shared with others, and any future community features.
2. Nomad & Meetup Safety
Future versions of Finding Horizons may include features for connecting with other travellers (nomad mode, meetups, local guides). When these features launch, the following rules apply:
- Always meet in public, well-lit places for first-time meetings with other users
- Never share your exact accommodation address publicly on the platform
- Do not organize or attend meetups at private residences unless you know the host personally
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave and report it
- Finding Horizons facilitates connection but does not vet, background-check, or guarantee the safety of other users
3. Prohibited Content & Behaviour
You must not use the Service to:
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Share someone's exact current location without their explicit consent
- Doxx (reveal private personal information of) other users
- Operate scams, phishing, or fraudulent tour/trip schemes
- Post illegal content (CSAM, content promoting violence, etc.)
- Impersonate other users, public figures, or Finding Horizons staff
- Spread misinformation about destinations, events, or safety conditions
- Use automated bots or scripts to interact with community features
- Engage in any commercial activity (promoting businesses, selling tours/services) without authorization
4. Location Sharing
If you choose to share your location or travel presence with other users:
- Sharing is always opt-in and under your control
- You can revoke location sharing at any time from Settings
- Neighbourhood/city-level presence is shared first; precise sharing requires your explicit consent
- Do not share another user's location without their permission
5. Reporting & Blocking
If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these guidelines, use the in-app report feature or contact us at support@findinghorizons.ca.
You can block other users at any time. Blocking prevents them from seeing your profile or interacting with your content. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
6. Moderation
We reserve the right to remove content, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these Guidelines. Moderation decisions are at our discretion. Repeated or serious violations may result in immediate permanent termination without refund.
We do not moderate every piece of content in real time — you may encounter content that violates these guidelines before it is removed. Please report it promptly.
7. User-Generated Events & Posts
When user-generated events, trip posts, and experience reviews launch, you are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you post. Do not post events at locations you do not have the right to access or use. Do not post reviews you have not personally experienced.
8. Enforcement
Violations may result in content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination. In serious cases (threats, illegal content, fraud), we may report to law enforcement.
To appeal a moderation decision, contact support@findinghorizons.ca with "Appeal" in the subject line.
