Working draft
This page is a working draft and should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before public launch.
1. What Is User Content
User Content means any content you create, upload, import, or submit through Finding Horizons, including:
- Text notes, descriptions, and reviews attached to saved places or trips
- URLs and links imported from social media or other platforms
- Photos, screenshots, and PDF documents you upload
- Pasted booking confirmation or itinerary text
- Experience posts, blogs, and public collection descriptions (when these features launch)
2. You Own Your Content
You retain full ownership of User Content you create. Finding Horizons does not claim ownership of your notes, photos, or imported content.
3. Licence to Finding Horizons
By submitting User Content to Finding Horizons, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, process, display, and where applicable distribute that content within the Service, consistent with your privacy settings.
This licence is limited to operating and improving the Service and is not a licence to sell or monetize your content independently. The licence terminates when you delete the content or your account (subject to backup retention periods).
4. Your Responsibility for Content
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights and permissions to submit the content
- The content does not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
- Imported content from third-party platforms (TikTok, Instagram, etc.) is used within the bounds of those platforms' terms
- You have the right to share any pasted booking or personal document content with our systems
5. Prohibited Content
You must not upload or submit:
- Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — violations will be reported to law enforcement
- Malware, scripts, or code designed to harm the Service or other users
- Private information about other individuals without their consent (doxxing)
- Content that violates our Community Guidelines
6. Privacy Settings & Visibility
By default, your saved places, trips, and collections are private — visible only to you. When you choose to share a collection or make content public, it may be visible to other users or the public depending on the sharing setting you select.
You control who can see your content. Check your privacy settings before sharing.
7. Content Removal & Moderation
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines. Removal may occur without notice in cases of serious violations (illegal content, harmful material). For other violations, we may issue a warning first.
You can delete your own content at any time. Deletion removes it from the Service within a reasonable time, subject to backup retention periods described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Copyright Takedown
If you believe content on Finding Horizons infringes your copyright, contact us at legal@findinghorizons.ca with:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Location of the infringing content (URL or description)
